General Kinky Textured Hair Extension Care

We like to keep it 100 with our customers.

Our natural hair texture is pretty unique. So unique, its a difficult texture to duplicate on another ethnicity's hair texture. All of our textures 100% virgin Asian hair processed to our kinky textures. There are no kinky straight or afro kinky curly women chopping their hair off for weave. ;0)

Therefore, our hair undergoes a specialized steam process to make it look like our hair.  Due to this processing, all of our textures were designed to be worn in their natural state - the state you receive them in.

Example: If you want to wear your hair bone straight all the time, please purchase light yaki instead of flat ironing coarse yaki every day.

Our strong recommendation is that the less you do to the hair, the more longevity you'll get from them.

Please be advised that the use of excessive and/or high heat, use of products containing alcohol, bleaching or dyeing of the hair may alter from it's natural state.

Hair Care for Light Yaki, Coarse Yaki & Kinky Straight

Please note that the information listed below are general guidelines & recommendations. Due to the nature of the product, hair that has been cut from different donors, every bundle of hair will react differently to different products and tools. Below are recommendations based on our experience and input from dozens of customers. Please be sure to research and sample different products to decide what will work best for you & your extensions.

GENERAL CARE

A good rule to follow when it comes to caring for your KCY straight hair is the less you wet/wash them the better! Now we're not saying not to wash your kinky straight, coarse yaki or light yaki,  ideally, cut back on hairspray and other hair products to avoid product build up on the extensions to avoid less washes. All hair extensions are essentially "dead" hair, meaning, because they are not being provided nourishment as if it were growing out of your scalp.

So this means it is up to you to provide the protection and nourishment to your extensions so they are long lastingly beautiful!

Recommended steps - detangle, co-wash (washing hair with only conditioner) air dry, style to preference. Minimize the amount of heat used.

DETANGLING - Use fingers to dry detangle thoroughly, then use large tooth comb. Use paddle brush to smooth hair, style as desired.

WASHING - Washing your hair with shampoo frequently will strip the extension of moisture and dry it out faster. Co-washing is strongly recommended. however, if you feel the need to wash hair due to product buildup with shampoo, please follow these steps: detangle. use a clarifying shampoo throughout hair. ALWAYS wash hair in a downwards motion. rubbing hair together will cause it to tangle. Rinse hair thoroughly.

CONDITIONING - Once hair has been thoroughly rinsed, use a generous amount of moisturizing conditioner. Use wide tooth comb to distribute conditioner. Rinse thoroughly. This method may be used for co-washing. It is also recommended to deep condition hair at every 2-3 weeks

DEEP CONDITIONING - We recommend a deep condition of your hair extensions every 2-3 weeks. Always apply deep conditioner after washing with a clarifying shampoo and rinse with cold water.

STYLING - Use a moisturizing leave-in conditioner and/or a nickel size amount of argan oil on damp hair. Air drying is strongly recommended. If not possible, use a hair dryer on low heat with a heat protectant. Style as desired. If you feel that the hair is dry, use argan oil. Hair does not like heavy/too much product.

CURLING - Our textures were designed to be worn as you receive them, however, if you would like to curl your hair, the texture holds curls best with a combination of heat and non-heat methods. A combination of flexible rods and curl wand works well. To curl with flexirods wet hair, add argan oil, flexirod to style. To curl with wand, use heat protectant, curl to desired style.

Using Heat

You may blow dry, curl and straighten your extensions, however, please keep in mind that hair extensions do not have a life source aka, a scalp. Just like your own hair, excessive and/or frequent use of heat will dry out and/or damage your hair.

Our processed textures require extra TLC by way of frequent moisture, deep conditioning and reducing the amount of heat used. The less heat used increases the longevity of your extensions.

Dyeing Hair

Our processed textures require extra TLC by way of frequent moisture, deep conditioning and reducing the amount of heat used. The less chemicals used increases the longevity of your extensions.
